I am Autumn Van Komen.
I was born in 1989 to My mom, dad and a brother and sister. At the age of 2 years old, my dad was killed in a car accident. My family moved to West Point, Utah at the age of 6 and we have called West Point our home since. In 2006 at 16 years old, I was injured in a car accident. I was sitting in the middle of the back seat. I had my seatbelt on, it was a lap belt with no shoulder harness. The lap belt ended up breaking my back, while saving my life. I sustained a complete spinal cord injury at the level of L1. I spent 3 weeks in the ICU and 6 more weeks in inpatient rehab. Soon after I was released from the hospital I met my sweetheart Nick.
About a year and a half later I graduated High School and moved out of my parents home to live and work independently. In 2010 Nick and I were married in Logan, Utah. Shortly after I carried a full term pregnancy and in May of 2011 Nick and I welcomed our first baby girl, Alexei. I then learned to take care of myself along with a baby. Nick worked full time for Pepsi Co. while I stayed home with the baby. I started painting wood and canvas' for decor and started my business AKVK Creations. I was selling my creations and decided to stop taking orders because we were expecting our 2nd little girl! After a much easier pregnancy our 2nd little girl, Alice was born in April 2014. I started taking orders again 6 months after sweet Alice was born painting and creating birthday decor. In 2015, I made the business decision to start designing and creating apparel. I now own akvkcreations.com and hand sew and create apparel for women and children while Nick works for Tanner Clinic.
It is my goal to help teach others to have a positive attitude even during the darkest days. Life is worth living no matter what adversity comes your way.
